Apply to study!

In the renewed application process for vocational education, those who have completed basic education generally apply through the joint application system via the Opintopolku service, while other applicants apply directly to the institution. For other training programs, applications are submitted directly to the institution.

In continuous enrollment, you can apply for vocational education flexibly throughout the year. The possibility of starting studies varies by field of education and is influenced by the applicant's prior education and skills.

Application pathways vary depending on your background

In the joint application process in spring 2025, those who have completed basic education and those without a post-basic education qualification can apply.

Those who have completed basic education ► Joint application

The application form for vocational basic education is filled out in the Opintopolku.fi service during the joint application period in February-March. Outside of the joint application period, you can apply for vocational education directly to the institution through continuous enrollment. In addition to the vocational basic qualification, you can also complete upper secondary studies and the matriculation examination. If you wish to pursue a so-called dual qualification, apply for the vocational basic qualification through the joint application. It is indicated in the basic qualification that this is a program where you can also complete upper secondary education. Please check the box on the application form to indicate your interest in this option. Starting upper secondary studies alongside vocational studies is also possible later on, and arrangements can be made during the studies. If you have a job in the field, you can also complete the basic qualification through apprenticeship training.

Those who have completed other qualifications can apply for degree programs according to the schedule of the joint application or through continuous enrollment.

Those who have completed other vocational qualifications or higher education degrees -> Continuous enrollment

Continuous enrollment provides the opportunity to apply for vocational education flexibly throughout the year. Continuous enrollment is implemented in different ways depending on the field and the applicant's prior education and skills. If you are an unemployed job seeker registered with the TE Office, please discuss your application for training with them first. Other funding channels for adults include KELA’s study support. If you have a job in the field, you can also complete your vocational qualification through apprenticeship training. For more information about continuous enrollment, you can contact our student office at opintotoimisto@sogsakk.fi or call 040 707 3793.
