Higher education collaboration
The Sámi Education Institute works closely with various educational institutions and universities. The goal of this collaboration is to increase and develop education, expertise, and research related to Sámi languages and culture, as well as to serve the needs of the Sámi region’s labor market and economy. The Sámi Education Institute is a member institution of the University of the Arctic (UArctic). UArctic is a circumpolar university network and one of the world’s largest education and research networks. Through this membership, student and expert exchanges are widely conducted across the entire circumpolar region.
Educational partnership in Lapland
The Sámi Education Institute is a member of the Lapland Educational Partnership network, together with Lapland University of Applied Sciences, Vocational College Lappia, Lapland Education Centre REDU, Lapland Summer University, and the University of Lapland. The institutions in the network are committed to educational cooperation, sharing foresight information, expertise, and knowledge, as well as co-developing services for working life and collaborating in research, development, and innovation.
Väärtiverkosto - Partner network
The Sámi Education Institute, the University of Lapland, and the Giellagas Institute of the University of Oulu form 'Väärtiverkosto', a Partner network. The aim of the collaboration is to enhance and develop education and research related to Sámi languages and culture, as well as education and research in welfare and health sciences, art and design, law, and social sciences related to Sámi identity.
